Sifu Gregory Fong leads annual trips to Hong Kong
for martial arts training, sightseeing and recreation.
March 21-30, 2007
Seven nights total, departing from PDX on March 21st in the evening and returning to PDX on March 30th in the afternoon.
Tentative price: $2100
Actual cost will depend upon the number of confirmed participants, cost of airfare and hotel rates when reservations are made. Confirmation of final price is expected in early December 2006. Final pricing and updated trip information will be posted on this page at http://i-chuan.net. Payment in full is due by first week of January 2007.
Price includes:
- Round trip airfare from Portland to Hong Kong
Those coming from other cities should make their own arrangements to connect with the PDX flight.
Hotel accommodations at Silvermine Hotel
The group will stay on Lantau Island at the beachfront Silvermine Hotel. Price is based upon two persons sharing a room. Those wishing to have their own room may be accommodated for an additional fee. Lantau Island is a short ferry ride from HK. (See Sifu Fong's report on the hotel, activities, and surrounding area.)
- Meals
All meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are included. The hotel provides Chinese and Western buffet breakfast. Sifu Fong will provide daily lunch and dinner.
- Local transportation
Transportation is provided only to and from the airport and for the two days of sightseeing. Your personal activities are at your own expense.

Sifu Feng will travel to Lantau Island for two-hour morning lessons with the group. Those who would like further instruction may attend his regular classes in Victoria Park and Kowloon Park in the evenings. Lessons will focus on the internal aspects of martial arts including standing, issuing power, chi kung and push hands.
Sifu Feng Zhi-peng grew up in Chen Village, Henan province, China, where Chen style Taijiquan originated. Feng learned first from his uncle, then for many years from Master Wang Xian. Says Feng, “Although I have been practicing Taijiquan for a long time, I find myself still having room for improvement.”
- Chinese cooking lessons
Learn to cook Chinese meat and/or vegetarian dishes.
- Two full days sightseeing Hong Kong area highlights will include:
- Temple of Ten Thousand Buddhas, Victoria Peak
- Po Lin Monastery with giant Buddha statue, temples, and hiking trails
- New Ngong Ping 360 shopping arcade

Cancellation policy:
For any reason whatsoever, canceling the trip after tickets and reservations have been purchased will incur a severe penalty. Cancellations requested by March 14th will result in a refund of, at most, 60% of the total purchase price. Cancellations requested after March 14th will result in a refund of not more than 40% of the total purchase price. Remember, if you miss the flight on the departure date, you will be responsible for finding a later flight (if available) and paying for your own ticket if you still wish to join the group.
